JÖKULSÁRLÓN, ICELAND

February 9, 2008

DSC6503.jpg

Wind-driven snow peppers an "ice diamond" on the beach near Jökulsárlón, Iceland. This 500- to 700-year-old ice calved from Breidermerkursjökull is polished by the action of glacier, river and seawater, in the process of raising global sea level.
