SÓLHEIMAJÖKULL, ICELAND
March 25, 2007

Sólheimajökull seen from EIS camera site IL-5. Jokull means glacier in Icelandic. The glacier has retreated 580 m./1,900 ft. since 1996. The entire crescent-shaped “shark bite” on the left, or west, side of the glacier vanished as a result of melting and stream erosion between April and October 2006.
