JÖKULSÁRLÓN, ICELAND
March, 2005

Icebergs on the surface of Jökulsárlón in southeast Iceland. The ice drains from an icecap called the Vatnajokull. Jökulsárlón, a word that means glacial lagoon in English, did not exist until the 1930’s. The glaciers feeding it have steadily pulled back since that time, leaving a lagoon five miles wide.
